The Facilities Service Center (FSC) was established in 2013, originally to handle work orders for divisions within Facilities Services. These work orders typically include maintenance, landscape, custodial, surplus, and event and moving support and services. Today, the group has a reputation as the first line of contact when anyone on campus has an operational issue. A team of seven full-time employees answers approximately 70,000 calls and emails every year, collecting information from clients to create work orders and route inquiries across Campus Operations and beyond.

5 Questions With Carin Peterson, Senior Training and Outreach Coordinator

Carin Peterson is no stranger to working with animals. A UT graduate, she has a background in zoology and wildlife biology that prepared her to work with bats, reptiles, and endangered birds as a field biologist and researcher. She also worked as a zookeeper, veterinary technician, technician with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and ranch hand before joining UT to develop Animal Make Safe, a program in the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) department.

$70 million worth of renovations coming to University of Texas at Austin tower

KVUE — Since 1937, the University of Texas at Austin has been the home to a 307-foot-tall structure: the UT Tower. With 27 floors, an observation deck, and a series of windows, this building is well-known even beyond the campus. Now a $70 million renovation project has been approved by the school's Board of Regents.

UT's iconic tower will undergo historic restoration beginning in November

KVUE — The University of Texas at Austin's iconic Tower is about to get some needed TLC. UT says the planned restoration work will mark the first meaningful investment in the Tower since it was completed in 1937. The university first announced its plan to spruce up the Tower in 2022, and the Board of Regents approved roughly $70 million for the project back in February of this year.
