Dear Campus Operations Team,
One of the things I appreciate most about Campus Operations is how we consistently rise to the occasion — whether it's for expected events like Commencement or unexpected challenges like severe weather.
Commencement is one of the most high-profile milestones of the year, and your efforts helped make it a vibrant and memorable experience for our graduates and campus visitors. The behind-the-scenes efforts of our teams in Facilities Services, Grounds and Landscape, and Planning, Design and Construction helped bring each Commencement celebration to life and showcased our University at its very best.
During our recent severe spring storms, I was impressed by how everyone in Campus Operations stepped up, regardless of title or department, truly embodying the spirit of One Great Team. Facilities Services addressed multiple roof and window leaks, managed interior water cleanup, coordinated delivery of dumpsters, and assisted with locksmith support at multiple buildings across campus. Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) identified hazards and coordinated with Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) to deploy cranes, stabilize the concourse fencing, and monitor cleanup at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. EHS also worked alongside Facilities Services to transport perishable food during a power outage at the Child Development Centers to University Housing and Dining refrigerators and freezers. Utilities and Energy Management secured compromised lighting, infrastructure, and project fencing. Grounds and Landscape cleared debris and tree limbs, and PDC ensured safety at project sites, assessed damaged roofs, and launched repairs. This cross-team effort exemplifies our shared values of Getting It Done Right and Serving with Care, and I appreciate how you work together.
Again, thank you for your remarkable efforts. I’m proud to work alongside each of you and grateful for everything you do to support our campus community. I hope to see you to celebrate your hard work at the One Great Team Ice Cream Social on June 17.
With appreciation,
Brent Stringfellow
Associate Vice President for Campus Operations
