Fall Updates & Fleet Vehicle Parking in Facilities Complex

Dear Campus Operations Team,

Thank you to everyone who attended last week’s Campus Operations BBQ! It was fantastic to be at the UFCU Disch-Falk Field and to see so many of us, across all our departments, together at once. We are a mighty team of people. In fact, we served over 1,000 pounds of brisket! Your energy made the event memorable, and you can take a look at photos, including aerial shots of our day and evening teams.

As we continue to grow, I’m excited that the opening of the Facilities Complex 4 Building (FC4) is on its way. You may see members from Utilities and Energy Management and our partners in Information Technology Services begin moving into that building.

With the opening of FC4, Campus Operations has made changes to put our parking spaces to best use and accommodate fleet vehicles for all departments. Departments and divisions will each have designated areas for their fleet vehicles, and these zones will be color-coded to designate who should park in each location. Carts and fleet vehicles will be marked with corresponding department colors. Although it may take a few more weeks until these changes go into effect, you'll begin to see work being done in the lots surrounding the Facilities Complex to prepare for these changes. Please see more information below about the parking plan.

Lastly, I want to shout out our many team members who are working on UT Works. This transformative software will go live on Nov. 5, and I’m grateful to everyone who is dedicated to its successful implementation.

Thank you for everything you do.

Hook ’em!

UPCOMING CHANGES TO FLEET VEHICLE PARKING FOR FACILITIES COMPLEX

Departments and divisions will each have designated areas for their fleet vehicles, and these zones will be color-coded to designate who should park in each location. Carts and fleet vehicles will be marked with corresponding department colors. Please see more information below about the parking plan.

Additional changes include:

  • Installing signage for designated department parking spots.
  • Adding new power sources for carts around the FC4 building.
  • Demolishing and paving cart parking curb areas in the complex and installing signage with Cart Number and Cart Color for each zone.
  • Painting directional lines and designated lanes to ensure safe one-way travel for pedestrians, carts, and bikes.

Once signage is installed, we ask that team members park carts and fleet vehicles in those designated zones. Signage will be installed and the new parking plan will go into effect in November.

For details, please see this map. It shows designated areas for each department and division that will have fleet vehicles in the Facilities Complex.

One of the benefits of this plan will be the re-designation of the Dean Keeton fleet parking lot location into a designated 98/35 lot for permit holders once the fleet parking project is complete. This will allow for more personal vehicle parking around the complex and reduce pressure on the other lots in the area.

Personal vehicles will no longer be allowed to park within the Facilities Complex. These vehicles may be towed if found parking with the complex and not in a designated PTS Permitted Zone.

Thank you in advance for following this plan. By doing so, we will ensure there’s adequate reserved space for all University vehicles across Campus Operations.
