Our Mission and Services

The mission of Human Resources (HR) is to serve as a strategic partner by providing professional and organizational human resource solutions to the campus that attract, engage and develop employees. In achieving our mission, HR commits to be competent, to be responsive, to act with integrity, to innovate and to collaborate.

Administrative Services

Administrative Services provides logistical, financial, budgetary, training, and development services to the HR operating units and also houses the Office of Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution which provides conflict resolution and mediation services to the campus

Human Resource Service Center

The Human Resource Service Center (HRSC) is the first point of assistance for department customers, and serves as a clearinghouse for information about university benefits, employment opportunities, timekeeping, records, new employee orientation, onboarding compliance and other HR department services.


To attract and retain the best and brightest faculty and staff, the Rewards group maintains our competitive benefits and retirement package. Specialists consult with individuals on a variety of benefits, including workers’ compensation, employer paid and optional insurance plans and leaves of absence, which contributes to the overall well-being of employees and their covered dependents.

Beyond traditional benefits, the team brings tailored work-life balance solutions to campus. This includes everything from on-site access to licensed counselors through the HealthPoint Employee Assistance Program, access to work injury care through an Occupational Health Program, elder and child care referral services, a robust employee discount program, and an employee wellness program.

Strategic Workforce Solutions

The Strategic Workforce Solutions (SWS) team provides expertise in performance management, employee relations, staffing, and classification. Consultants and HR Partners work with both employees and managers. They are also engaged university-wide to develop compensation and classification strategies and management of the University’s pay plan, lead policy development and projects, and participate in campus and system-wide committees.

UTemps is our recruitment and placement services unit providing temporary employees for the campus. We provide a valuable channel for sourcing administrative professionals and supplying a precious pool of technical professionals in fields ranging from IT to research assistants for short term assignments.

Organization Effectiveness

Organization Effectiveness (OE) provides comprehensive organizational and human resource strategy consulting to colleges, schools and administrative units. OE coordinates and delivers employee and leadership development programs and offers facilitation services around topics of project management, change management and team effectiveness, which maximize staff and faculty performance.

Workforce Planning and Analysis

This unit provides management with reliable, up-to-date workforce analytics in support of evidence-based planning and decision making.
